Last updated: August 2026
These Rental Terms & Conditions apply to all rentals of Garmin inReach Mini 2 satellite communicators supplied by TECHNAUTIQ.
By placing a rental order, the Customer acknowledges that they have read, understood and accepted these Rental Terms & Conditions.
These conditions supplement TECHNAUTIQ’s general Terms & Conditions of Sale and Rental where applicable.
1. Rental Equipment
The rental includes a Garmin inReach Mini 2 satellite communicator and the accessories specified in the Customer’s order.
Depending on the rental package, the equipment may include:
- Garmin inReach Mini 2 device
- USB charging/data cable
- Mounting clip or carabiner
- Protective case or pouch
- Quick-start instructions
- Other accessories specified in the rental order
All equipment remains the exclusive property of TECHNAUTIQ throughout the rental period.
The Customer acquires no ownership rights over the equipment.
2. Intended Use
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is a satellite communication and tracking device designed for use in remote areas where conventional mobile networks may be unavailable.
Depending on the activated service plan and device configuration, functions may include:
- Two-way satellite messaging
- Location sharing
- GPS tracking
- Check-in messages
- Weather information
- SOS emergency communication
- Garmin Messenger compatibility
- Navigation and synchronization with compatible Garmin applications
Availability of individual functions depends on the satellite subscription activated for the rental, satellite visibility, geographic location, environmental conditions and Garmin service availability.
3. Satellite Service
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 operates using the Iridium satellite network.
The rental price includes only the satellite service specifically described in the rental offer or order confirmation.
The Customer must check the included allowance before using the device.
Additional messages, tracking points, weather requests or other satellite services exceeding the included allowance may generate additional charges.
Where additional usage charges are incurred during the rental period, TECHNAUTIQ reserves the right to invoice these charges to the Customer after the equipment has been returned and the usage records have been verified.
4. Rental Period
The rental period begins and ends on the dates indicated in the Customer’s order confirmation.
The Customer must return the equipment according to the instructions supplied by TECHNAUTIQ.
The rental period includes only the agreed period of use.
Where shipping is provided, TECHNAUTIQ will endeavour to dispatch the equipment sufficiently in advance of the rental start date.
Customers are strongly advised to allow sufficient time before departure to receive, inspect and become familiar with the equipment.
5. Equipment Testing Before Departure
The Customer is responsible for testing the Garmin inReach Mini 2 before starting their trip, voyage, expedition or professional assignment.
The Customer should specifically verify:
- Device power and battery level
- Charging operation
- Satellite connection
- Message transmission
- Location acquisition
- Tracking configuration where applicable
- Smartphone pairing where required
- Garmin Messenger or Garmin Explore application configuration where applicable
Any suspected malfunction must be reported to TECHNAUTIQ as soon as possible and, whenever possible, before departure.
The SOS function must not be activated merely for testing purposes.
6. Satellite Visibility
Satellite communication requires adequate visibility of the sky.
The Customer understands that satellite communication may be degraded or temporarily unavailable:
- Inside buildings
- Inside metal structures
- Below deck on a vessel
- Inside certain vehicles
- In tunnels
- In caves
- Under dense vegetation
- Close to cliffs or steep mountains
- In deep valleys
- Where the device does not have sufficient visibility of the sky
For best performance, the Garmin inReach Mini 2 should be positioned with a clear and unobstructed view of the sky.
TECHNAUTIQ cannot guarantee continuous satellite connectivity.
7. SOS Emergency Function
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 includes an interactive SOS function designed to transmit an emergency alert through Garmin’s emergency response infrastructure when satellite communication is available.
The SOS function must only be used in a genuine emergency.
Activation of the SOS function may result in communication with an emergency response coordination centre and may lead to the deployment of local rescue or emergency services.
The Customer remains responsible for determining whether an emergency justifies activation of the SOS function.
Rescue Costs
The rental of a Garmin inReach Mini 2 does not include rescue, evacuation, medical assistance or repatriation insurance unless expressly stated otherwise.
Any costs resulting from:
- Search and rescue operations
- Emergency response
- Medical evacuation
- Helicopter evacuation
- Vessel assistance
- Towing
- Repatriation
- Local emergency services
- Third-party rescue organisations
remain the responsibility of the Customer or the relevant user of the device.
Customers travelling in remote areas or undertaking offshore, mountain, hiking or expedition activities are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel, rescue and medical insurance.
8. No Guarantee of Emergency Communication
Satellite communication systems depend on technical infrastructure and environmental conditions outside TECHNAUTIQ’s control.
TECHNAUTIQ therefore cannot guarantee that:
- An SOS message will always be transmitted immediately
- Satellite coverage will always be available
- Emergency services will be available
- Emergency services will respond within a particular time
- A rescue operation will be possible
- Location information will always be perfectly accurate
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 must therefore be considered an additional safety and communication tool, not a substitute for appropriate safety procedures, navigation equipment, emergency equipment or professional judgement.
9. Customer Responsibility
The Customer is responsible for the equipment from the moment it is delivered or collected until it is returned to TECHNAUTIQ or the designated return carrier.
The Customer agrees to:
- Use the equipment carefully
- Follow Garmin operating instructions
- Protect the device from avoidable damage
- Keep the device adequately charged
- Prevent unauthorised use
- Protect the device from theft

The Customer must not sell, pledge, sub-rent or transfer ownership of the equipment.
10. Battery Management
The Customer is responsible for maintaining sufficient battery capacity for the intended use.
Battery autonomy varies according to configuration and usage, including:
- Tracking frequency
- Number of satellite messages
- Bluetooth usage
- Temperature
- GPS activity
- Device settings
TECHNAUTIQ does not guarantee a specific operating duration from a single battery charge.
For remote expeditions, offshore sailing or extended trips, Customers should carry an appropriate independent charging solution such as a power bank or suitable USB power source.
11. Smartphone and Application Compatibility
Some Garmin inReach Mini 2 functions may require or benefit from connection to a compatible smartphone and Garmin application.
The Customer is responsible for:
- Providing a compatible smartphone
- Installing the required application
- Maintaining sufficient smartphone battery
- Maintaining Bluetooth connectivity where required
- Understanding basic operation before departure
Failure of the Customer’s smartphone, Bluetooth connection or third-party application does not automatically constitute failure of the rented Garmin device.
Core satellite functionality may differ depending on configuration and service activation.
12. Tracking and Location Data
Where tracking or location-sharing functions are activated, geographic location data may be transmitted through Garmin services.
The Customer is responsible for informing any other users of the equipment that satellite tracking and location-sharing functions may be active.
The Customer must use tracking and location-sharing functions in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection laws.
TECHNAUTIQ does not guarantee permanent availability or retention of tracking history.
13. Prohibited Uses
The equipment must not be used:
- For illegal activities
- For fraudulent emergency alerts
- In violation of applicable telecommunications regulations
- In countries or territories where possession or use of satellite communication equipment is restricted or prohibited
- In any manner likely to damage the device or satellite service
International Travel
Satellite communication devices may be regulated, restricted or prohibited in certain countries.
The Customer is solely responsible for checking the laws and regulations applicable in every country or territory visited.
TECHNAUTIQ cannot be held responsible for confiscation, fines, detention, customs issues or other consequences resulting from unlawful possession or use of satellite communication equipment.
14. Loss, Theft or Damage
The Customer is responsible for loss, theft or damage occurring during the rental period, except where caused by normal wear and tear or a proven pre-existing defect.
In the event of loss, theft or significant damage, the Customer must notify TECHNAUTIQ as soon as possible.
TECHNAUTIQ may charge the Customer for:
- Repair costs
- Replacement parts
- Missing accessories
- Replacement of the device
- Shipping or administrative costs directly associated with the loss or damage
Any amount charged must correspond to the actual loss or replacement cost applicable to the rented equipment, subject to applicable consumer law.
15. Water and Environmental Damage
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 has an environmental protection rating specified by the manufacturer.
However, this does not mean that the device is indestructible or suitable for unlimited underwater use.
The Customer must take reasonable precautions against:
- Prolonged immersion
- Saltwater exposure
- Corrosion
- Excessive heat
- Fire
- Crushing
- Severe impact
- Chemical contamination
After exposure to saltwater or marine environments, the device should be handled according to Garmin’s manufacturer recommendations.
Damage resulting from misuse or exposure outside manufacturer specifications may be charged to the Customer.
16. Loss or Theft During Rental
If the equipment is lost or stolen, the Customer must immediately inform TECHNAUTIQ.
In the event of theft, TECHNAUTIQ may request a copy of the police report or other official declaration.
The Customer may be charged the reasonable replacement value of the missing equipment and accessories.
TECHNAUTIQ may also suspend or deactivate the associated satellite service.
17. Return of Equipment
The Customer must return the Garmin inReach Mini 2 and all supplied accessories by the agreed return date.
Unless otherwise agreed, the equipment must be returned using the return procedure supplied by TECHNAUTIQ.
The Customer should ensure that the equipment is:
- Switched off
- Correctly packed
- Protected during transport
- Returned with all supplied accessories
The Customer should retain proof of shipment until TECHNAUTIQ confirms receipt of the equipment.
18. Late Returns
Late returns may prevent TECHNAUTIQ from supplying equipment to another Customer.
Where equipment is returned after the agreed return deadline without prior approval, TECHNAUTIQ reserves the right to charge additional rental days and any reasonable costs directly resulting from the delay.
If the Customer anticipates a late return, they must contact TECHNAUTIQ as soon as possible.
19. Missing Accessories
All accessories supplied with the Garmin inReach Mini 2 must be returned.
Missing accessories may be charged at their reasonable replacement cost.
This may include charging cables, clips, mounts, cases, adapters or other accessories listed in the rental package.
20. Equipment Failure During Rental
If the equipment appears to malfunction during the rental period, the Customer should contact TECHNAUTIQ as soon as reasonably possible.
The Customer should not attempt to open, dismantle or repair the device.
Where possible, TECHNAUTIQ may provide remote troubleshooting assistance.
If the equipment is confirmed to have suffered a technical failure not caused by misuse, TECHNAUTIQ’s liability will be limited in accordance with applicable law and the relevant rental agreement.
21. Limitation of Liability
TECHNAUTIQ supplies the Garmin inReach Mini 2 as a communication and safety-support device.

For maritime use, the device does not replace:
- Official nautical charts

For hiking, mountaineering or land expeditions, it does not replace appropriate maps, navigation skills, safety equipment or preparation.
The user remains responsible for navigation and operational decisions.
23. Force Majeure and External Services
TECHNAUTIQ cannot guarantee services operated by third parties, including satellite operators, Garmin services, telecommunications providers, emergency response organisations and transport carriers.
Service interruption caused by circumstances beyond TECHNAUTIQ’s reasonable control does not automatically constitute a failure by TECHNAUTIQ to provide the rental service.
Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
24. Cancellation
Cancellation conditions applicable to the rental are those stated during the booking process and in TECHNAUTIQ’s general Rental Terms & Conditions.
Where the Customer is a consumer, any mandatory rights provided by applicable French or European consumer law remain unaffected.
