These Rental Terms & Conditions govern equipment rented from TECHNAUTIQ through https://technautiq.com.

They apply in addition to the general Terms & Conditions where the customer selects a rental product.

1. Rental Equipment

TECHNAUTIQ may offer rental of equipment including:

  • Starlink Mini;
  • Starlink equipment and accessories;
  • Iridium satellite phones;
  • Iridium Extreme / 9575 equipment;
  • Garmin inReach devices;
  • satellite communication equipment;
  • marine connectivity equipment;
  • associated chargers, cables, cases and accessories.

The precise contents of each rental package are described on the product page or rental confirmation.

2. Rental Period

The rental period selected during checkout may be expressed in:

  • days;
  • weeks;
  • months;
  • another specified period.

The rental starts on the date specified in the booking confirmation.

The equipment must be returned in accordance with the return date stated in the rental order.

Transport times and the method for determining the beginning/end of a rental may be specified on the relevant product page.

3. Reservation

A rental is confirmed only after:

  • availability has been verified;
  • required payment has been authorised;
  • required customer information has been received;
  • any applicable security deposit has been authorised or paid.

TECHNAUTIQ may refuse a rental request for legitimate reasons including suspected fraud, payment problems, regulatory restrictions or unavailable inventory.

4. Customer Identification

For high-value rental equipment, TECHNAUTIQ may request reasonable information necessary to secure the transaction.

This may include:

  • full name;
  • billing address;
  • delivery address;
  • telephone number;
  • email;
  • company details where applicable.

Additional verification may be requested where proportionate and legally permitted.

Personal information is handled according to the TECHNAUTIQ Privacy Policy.

5. Security Deposit

Certain equipment may require a security deposit or payment card pre-authorisation.

The amount will be indicated before rental confirmation.

The deposit may be used, where justified, toward costs arising from:

  • lost equipment;
  • non-return;
  • missing accessories;
  • abnormal damage;
  • unauthorised modifications;
  • unpaid rental extensions;
  • reasonable repair costs.

Normal wear and tear will not be charged.

Any deduction will be documented and limited to justified costs.

6. Equipment Condition

Equipment is inspected before dispatch.

Depending upon the item, equipment may be supplied with:

  • protective case;
  • power supply;
  • charging cable;
  • data cable;
  • antennas;
  • adapters;
  • mounting accessories;
  • instructions.

Customers should verify the package upon receipt and report missing or damaged components promptly.

7. Customer Responsibility

During the rental period, the customer is responsible for taking reasonable care of the equipment.

The customer must not:

  • deliberately damage equipment;
  • open sealed components;
  • carry out unauthorised repairs;
  • modify device firmware contrary to instructions;
  • remove identification labels;
  • sell, pledge or sub-rent equipment without authorisation.

8. Marine Use

Equipment intended for maritime use must be protected according to its technical specifications.

A product being described as marine-compatible does not necessarily mean that every component is waterproof, submersible or resistant to saltwater exposure.

The customer must follow manufacturer recommendations.

9. Starlink Rental

Where a Starlink or Starlink Mini terminal is rented, the rental price may or may not include connectivity service.

The product page and rental confirmation will specify whether a service plan is included.

Starlink service:

  • depends upon network availability;
  • may vary geographically;
  • may be subject to service-provider restrictions;
  • may require unobstructed sky visibility;
  • may be affected by vessel movement, local regulations or plan restrictions.

TECHNAUTIQ does not guarantee a particular bandwidth, latency or uninterrupted connection.

10. Iridium Rental

Iridium equipment may require an active SIM card or airtime plan.

Unless specifically included in the rental offer, airtime charges may be billed separately.

The customer is responsible for communication usage made through the rented equipment during the rental period.

11. Garmin inReach Rental

Garmin inReach services may require activation and an active satellite subscription.

Where a subscription is included, the permitted usage will be stated in the rental offer.

Additional message, tracking or service fees resulting from usage outside the included package may be charged to the customer where applicable.

12. Emergency Communications

Satellite communication equipment may improve communication capability but should not be considered an absolute guarantee of emergency communication.

Coverage may be affected by:

  • terrain;
  • structures;
  • antenna orientation;
  • sky visibility;
  • network availability;
  • equipment damage;
  • power availability.

Customers remain responsible for carrying legally required maritime distress and safety equipment.

13. Delivery

Rental equipment may be delivered to eligible destinations in France and Europe.

Available carriers, prices and estimated transport times appear during checkout or in the rental offer.

Customers must provide a delivery address where the package can reasonably be received.

14. Return Shipping

Where specified in the rental offer, TECHNAUTIQ may provide:

  • a prepaid return shipping label;
  • return packaging instructions;
  • a designated carrier;
  • a return address in France.

The customer must use the designated return process where one has been supplied.

15. Return Deadline

Equipment must be handed to the designated carrier no later than the agreed return deadline.

The customer should retain proof of shipment until the return has been confirmed.

16. Late Returns

Late returns may result in additional rental charges.

Where another customer has reserved the equipment, significant delays may also result in additional costs reasonably attributable to the delay.

Late fees will not exceed amounts permitted by applicable law and will be proportionate to the loss incurred.

17. Rental Extension

Customers wishing to extend a rental should contact TECHNAUTIQ before the agreed return date.

Extensions are subject to:

  • availability;
  • payment;
  • existing reservations.

An extension is not confirmed until accepted by TECHNAUTIQ.

18. Lost Equipment

If rented equipment is lost or stolen, the customer must notify TECHNAUTIQ immediately.

Where theft occurs, TECHNAUTIQ may request a police report or equivalent documentation.

Subject to applicable law, the customer may be charged the reasonable replacement value of equipment for which they are responsible.

19. Damaged Equipment

Normal wear resulting from reasonable use is accepted.

The customer may be liable for damage caused by:

  • negligence;
  • improper use;
  • impact;
  • water exposure beyond product specifications;
  • unauthorised modification;
  • incorrect power supply;
  • failure to follow manufacturer instructions.

Charges will be based on reasonable repair or replacement costs.

20. Cleaning

Equipment must be returned in reasonably clean condition.

Excessive contamination including salt deposits, mud, fuel, oil or other substances may result in reasonable specialist cleaning charges.

21. Accessories

All supplied accessories must be returned.

Missing items may be charged at their reasonable replacement value.

22. Cancellation and Right of Withdrawal

Consumer cancellation rights depend on the nature and timing of the rental service.

Where a statutory right of withdrawal applies, TECHNAUTIQ will respect the applicable 14-day withdrawal period.

Where the customer requests that the rental service begin before expiry of the withdrawal period, specific consumer-law rules may apply.

If the service has already been fully performed following the consumer’s express request and acknowledgement, the statutory withdrawal right may cease where permitted by law.

23. Cancellation by TECHNAUTIQ

TECHNAUTIQ may cancel a rental if equipment becomes unexpectedly unavailable due to circumstances such as:

  • damage from a previous rental;
  • non-return by a previous customer;
  • technical failure;
  • transport incident.

Where no equivalent replacement can be offered, payments made for the unavailable rental will be refunded.

24. Prohibited Uses

Equipment must not be used for unlawful purposes.

The customer is responsible for complying with laws applicable in the country, territorial waters or jurisdiction where the equipment is used.

This includes applicable telecommunications, radio, satellite and maritime rules.

25. Liability

TECHNAUTIQ cannot guarantee continuous availability of third-party communication networks.

TECHNAUTIQ shall therefore not be liable, except where required by law, for indirect losses arising solely from third-party service interruptions.

This does not limit statutory customer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

26. Governing Law

Rental agreements are governed by French law.

Mandatory consumer rights applicable under European legislation remain unaffected.
